This collection includes newsletters published by the faculty, staff, and students of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College as well as the RCCC Foundation and the North Carolina Community College System.

The collection has been divided into 3 series:
1. Campus Newsletters and Journals
2. Student Publications
3. Alumni and Community Publications.

Of particular interest is the Career Planning Bulletin in Series 1, which covers information from the very beginning of Rowan-Cabarrus.

Biographical / Historical

Newsletters have been a part of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College nearly since the beginning. The RTI Official Bulletin began in 1966, and underwent a face-lift in 1977 when it became The Update newsletter. Other newsletters have also come and gone, notably Tech Times which ran from 1978-1985. There were also several other small-run or limited newsletters, which may have more issues than are available in this collection. Students, staff, and faculty have all contributed to the various newsletters in an effort to maintain communication and a sense of community with each other and alumni.

Abstract

This collection includes newsletters published by the faculty, staff, and students of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College as well as the RCCC Foundation and the North Carolina Community College System.

Arrangement

The collection has been divided into 3 series: 1. Campus Newsletters and Journals; 2. Student Publications; and 3. Alumni and Community Publications.

Within each series, publications are grouped by title and arranged chronologically. Several items appear to have the incorrect volume or edition numbers, these items are organized chronologically rather than folowing the numerical sequence.

Bulk of materials found in collection; there is no documentation concerning the provenance of these materials. Your Community College Volume 1, Number 1 transferred by Library Director Tim Hunter in Accession 2021.07.

Processing Information

Creator's file names were used where available; archivist supplied descriptive folder titles where the creator did not include one. The collection was arranged into series based on audience. Materials were placed in acid-free folders and boxes.
